Who provides dental IT support in Edmonton?

Dental IT support in Edmonton means a local team that looks after your clinic’s computers, servers, network, backups, security, practice software and imaging equipment. Our IT specialists and technicians come to your Edmonton clinic, and many issues are fixed quickly in a group chat with remote access. Our Edmonton address is for mail only.

Running a dental clinic is hard enough. Your computers, sensors, servers and backups shouldn’t add to the stress. We talk in plain words, we show up at your clinic, and we pick up the phone when something breaks. Our team includes both a DDS and an RDH, so we understand how a clinic actually runs.

  • 24/7emergency line (604) 813-7881, always answered by a person

Dentist or office manager? Here’s the short version.

If you own the clinic

  • Downtime costs chairs. When we restore a failed server from local storage, it has taken less than 2 hours.
  • Patient data stays recoverable. Backup copies are locked for 30 days, and no one can delete them early. The encrypted offsite copy stays in Canada, in Vancouver, BC.
  • One flat rate. $55 to $125 per PC per month, in writing before you commit.

If you run the office

  • No more voicemail. A person answers (604) 813-7881, 24/7 for emergencies.
  • Someone local comes in. Our Edmonton team comes to your clinic, including St. Albert and Sherwood Park.
  • Quick fixes in your group chat. Many issues are solved fast with remote access.

Why it matters, in plain words

Three pieces of tech every Edmonton clinic should ask about, and why.

Hyper-V

Why one dead server shouldn’t send patients home

On Hyper-V, your server is a set of files that can come back on other hardware. That’s how we get a failed server back from local storage in less than 2 hours.

Immutable backups

Why ransomware hunts for your backups first

Delete the backups and the clinic has to pay or rebuild. Our copies are locked for 30 days, and no one, not even us, can delete them early.

Multi-factor sign in

Why a stolen password shouldn’t open the clinic’s email

Passwords leak. A second check on a phone or a security key stops most stolen passwords from working.

On-site dental IT in Edmonton

We lead with on-site visits. IT specialists and technicians from our local Edmonton team come to your clinic, and we plan visits around your schedule and your patients.

Visits help most with setting up workstations, sensors and printers, connecting CBCT and pan x-ray machines to the network and practice software, checking the server room and cabling, and walking a renovation before the walls close. Our Edmonton address is a mailing address only.

Fast fixes by group chat and remote access

Many issues are fixed quickly in a dedicated group chat with your clinic’s users, plus remote access to the computer or server. That keeps small issues small.

What we support at Edmonton dental clinics

We look after the whole system, from the software on the screen to the server in the closet. We work with clinics from 5 to 20 operatories, because our technology scales and our methodology follows ITIL. We serve Edmonton and nearby Alberta.

Software: Dentrix, ClearDent, Dolphin, Tracker, ABELDent, Curve Dental and AkituOne. Imaging: Dexis, Vatech and Apex sensors, Scan-X PSP plate scanners, and CBCT and pan x-ray machines (the network and IT side), including Vatech, Sirona and KaVo.

Servers and backups: imaging files and practice databases are big and important. RAID keeps your images available if a drive fails, but it isn’t a backup, so we also keep separate copies offsite. We spot check multiple copies and test a full recovery every year.

Ransomware: if it hits, we help you contain it, check your backups, restore clean systems and work out what was touched.

We handle the IT side of Dentrix and ClearDent. For feature questions, call the software vendor.

Alberta privacy rules and your clinic’s IT

Privacy law is your clinic’s responsibility, and we don’t give legal advice. We do build the technical safeguards these rules expect.

Here is the plain version.

  • Alberta’s Health Information Act (HIA). Alberta dentists are “custodians” of patient health information. The Act can require a written information manager agreement with an IT provider that uses that information.
  • Privacy impact assessments (PIAs). Before you adopt a new system, or change how you handle health information, you generally need to complete a PIA and send it to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta (OIPC). Your clinic is responsible for completing the PIA on a reasonable schedule. We work with lawyer Ritchie Po, part of our MSP, to assist with your PIA. The CDSA says this applies to AI note taking tools too.
  • Breaches. If a breach could put a patient at risk of harm, Alberta rules can require you to report it. The OIPC explains who to tell and when.

On our side, we set up encryption, multi-factor sign in, patching, access reviews and logging, and we help you build a simple breach response plan so the first hour isn’t a scramble.

This is general information, not legal advice. Talk to your lawyer or the College of Dental Surgeons of Alberta (CDSA) for legal advice about your clinic.

Planning IT for a new dental clinic in Edmonton

Building or renovating? Bring us in early, while the drawings can still change. We plan the cabling, network, wireless, servers or cloud, and imaging connections around your operatories, imaging rooms and server space. We can also plan the server on Hyper-V from the start. A good plan avoids drilling into finished walls later. We completed data cabling setup, IT setup, and all hardware and software implementation for more than 25 clinics in new build or expansion phases combined.

Share your drawings and we’ll tell you what we would change. When it makes sense, we come on-site to walk the space with you.

Dental IT questions we hear in Edmonton

Do you offer dental IT support in Edmonton, on-site as well as remote?

Yes. We lead with on-site visits from our local Edmonton team, with IT specialists and technicians who come to your clinic. Many issues are also fixed quickly in a group chat with your staff, plus remote access. We cover practice software, imaging, servers, networks, backups and cybersecurity. Call our main line at (604) 813-7881 to book an assessment or audit by contacting us.

Which dental software and imaging systems do you support?

We support Dentrix, ClearDent, Dolphin, Tracker, ABELDent, Curve Dental, AkituOne and more. For imaging we work with Dexis, Vatech, Apex and Scan-X PSP plate scanners. If your system isn’t on the list, ask us. We will tell you honestly if it’s a fit.

Can you help with Dentrix in Edmonton?

Yes, with the IT side of Dentrix. That means the server, workstations, network, database backups, sensors and updates. For questions about Dentrix features, the software vendor is the right call. We help you keep Dentrix fast, backed up and secure, remotely or on-site.

See all questions

Do you support CBCT and panoramic x-ray machines?

Yes. We support the IT side of CBCT and pan machines from brands like Vatech, Sirona and KaVo. That means network setup, image storage, backups, workstation connections and troubleshooting. Mechanical repairs stay with the manufacturer or your equipment supplier.

Does a dental clinic need a real server and RAID?

Most clinics running imaging and a shared practice database do better with a true server than a desktop. RAID keeps image storage running if a drive fails, but it isn’t a backup. You also need separate backups stored offsite, including an immutable copy locked for 30 days so it can’t be changed or deleted in that time. We do spot checks on multiple copies of the backups and a yearly disaster recovery test to prove they work.

What does Alberta’s Health Information Act mean for my clinic’s IT?

Alberta dentists are custodians of patient health information. The Act can require a written agreement with IT providers who handle that information, and a privacy impact assessment (PIA) sent to the Alberta privacy commissioner before new systems or major changes. Your clinic is responsible for completing the PIA on a reasonable schedule. We work with lawyer Ritchie Po, part of our MSP, to assist with your PIA. We build the technical safeguards. Check current rules with your lawyer or the CDSA. This isn’t legal advice.

What should we do if ransomware hits the clinic?

Disconnect the affected computers from the network and call us right away. We help contain the problem, check your backups, restore clean systems and work out what was accessed. Alberta rules may then require you to report to the privacy commissioner, so check the OIPC breach page or ask your lawyer.

How much does dental IT support cost in Edmonton?

Managed support is a flat monthly rate of $55 to $125 per PC per month, with help desk, monitoring, on-site visits, 3-2-1 backups and more included. The one-time free break/fix assessment has a $150 travel fee in the City of Edmonton area. Managed clients don’t pay a travel fee. Projects such as cabling are quoted separately. We don’t do break/fix work except in special circumstances, but we offer one free break/fix assessment. See our support plans.

Can you set up IT for a new dental clinic in Edmonton?

Yes. We completed data cabling setup, IT setup, and all hardware and software implementation for more than 25 clinics in new build or expansion phases combined. We plan the cabling, network, wireless, servers or cloud, and imaging connections, and we can come on-site to walk the space with you. Bring us in during design, before the walls close.
