AkituOne IT support for dental clinics

AkituOne on a setup built to last

The software lives in the cloud. The network, workstations and imaging devices around it are still yours to run well.

The setup we build

Clinics grow, and one-off setups get outgrown. This foundation is built to grow with you, and one team looks after all of it.

  • Secure workstations. Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) to sign in and secure every computer, or a smaller server with DHCP, Active Directory sign in, and print and file services, ideally on Hyper-V. We recommend one or the other.
  • A full security stack. Firewall, DNS filtering, endpoint protection and security awareness training.
  • A contingency plan. Internet failover, local backups and a recovery plan, so one outage doesn’t stop the day.
  • Gigabit, wired, with room to grow. 1GbE is the standard baseline to every workstation and imaging device. Have a CBCT? Consider 10GbE for smooth image loading.
  • Planned changes. Workstation and device changes are planned and tested first, with a tested backup and a way back.

Cloud based doesn’t mean nothing is needed. The vendor runs the software. Security, internet and recovery are still on your side. AkituOne is cloud based, so ask the vendor for its technical requirements in writing. We’re independent IT support, not the AkituOne vendor.

1

Agree the change

What will change, and when, is agreed with the clinic.

2

Back up first

A fresh backup is taken, and we make sure it restores.

3

Test the change

We try it on a test copy or one computer before the whole office.

Go live, or go back

If something isn’t right, we return to where we started.

Change control means every upgrade has a plan, a backup, a test and a way back.

Three questions to ask before going cloud

Friendly ones to ask any vendor, and us. There are good answers to all three.

What handles printing for several computers?

A good answer is one shared place that manages printers for everyone. We can set it up on a small server for print and file services, ideally on Hyper-V.

Where do CBCT images live?

CBCT images aren’t supported in the cloud, so they need a local home. A good answer is protected local storage with backups. We plan it with you, with a fast wired link.

How CBCT bridges to your software

Who manages updates, logins and settings on each PC?

A good answer is one place that controls them, so every computer follows the same rules. We use Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD), or a small server with Active Directory.

Run like a proper IT shop

  • Incidents. Every problem is logged, ranked and closed with your office manager, then reviewed so it doesn’t repeat.
  • Monitoring. We watch the network, firewall and backups, and act early. Backups follow 3-2-1, with restores tested.

Why it matters, in plain words

The tech behind this page, and why it’s there. See all the plain guides.

Immutable backups

Why ransomware goes after the clinic’s backups first

Without backups, the clinic has to pay or rebuild. Our copies are locked for 30 days, and no one, not even us, can delete them early.

Multi-factor sign in

Why a stolen password shouldn’t open the clinic’s email

Passwords leak. A second check on a phone or a security key stops most stolen passwords from working.

Business firewall

Why the internet company’s router isn’t a firewall

It connects you. A business firewall inspects traffic, stops known attacks and keeps guests off the clinic’s network.

AkituOne questions

If it’s in the cloud, do I still need IT?

Yes. The vendor runs the software. Your firewall, DNS filtering, endpoint protection, staff training, internet failover and backups are still yours to run.

Can you help move to or from AkituOne?

Yes, as a planned change: agree it, back up, test, then go live or go back. See the conversion matrix.
